Had a Great Uncle Wax who once lived in Campbell, probably back in the 1920's. His
mother, Anna, died in Gloversville N.Y. in the mid 1920's. His father was John Wax.
Looking for any reference to that name. Is there a county court house in Steuben County?
How about a local cemetery? Thanks. Roger Grimshaw, 9472 El Campo Ave. Englewood, Fl.

My Dad was Charles O. Davison. His mother LaVinia (Bowman) Davison died at the train
station in Scranton PA. Bertrand B. Davison, Charles dad put him in an orphanage so he
could work for the railroad and family (Taylor) from Hammondsport, NY picked him up and
raised him with their daughter Mary, who later married a Lang and after that another. She
is buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetary with her second husband. I am trying to find the
connection between the Taylors and the Davisons as I know it is not on the Bowman side.
Any help would help. He said he lived in the Taylor Mansion at one time. His inherintance
was the grave he , his dad bertrand and his dads brother and wife are in at Pleasant
Valley Cemetary. I am pretty sure they were the Wine Taylors.

I am from the village of Caton in Lancashire, England. 4 miles from Caton is Hornby,
Lancashire.I visited both Caton & Hornby NY hoping to find some connection with the 2
villages in England but apparently it is just a coincidence that the 2 similarly named
villages in NY are roughly the same distance apart in both countries. If anyone knows of
any relationship between the English & US villages please let me know. I bought
drinking mugs from Corning , one for Caton & one for Hornby which are now back home in
Caton England. Caton & Hornby are villages in the Lune Valley in Lancashire, the
nearest city is Lancaster which dates back to Roman times. A Roman milestone was found in
a creek in Caton some time in the 1800's.The Lune valley is a scenic area, the famous
water color artist Turner painted a scene by the River Lune at Caton. Caton is only 2
miles from the M6, one of Britain's equivalents to the US Interstate highways.

For over 30 years, I spent most of my summers in Branchport, NY on Keuka Lake. My
parents recently moved back to NY after being gone for 10 years. They've settled near Penn
Yan. They met on the lake over 50 years ago at Lakeside in Hammondsport. Way back when
Lakeside was a roller rink! I've always felt as if I'm going home when I'm there. Anyway,
greetings to all from Buffalo, NY

Hello, My Dad and I used to visit the area back when I was between the ages of 8 and 13
or so. My great grandmother and great grandfather had a property just outside of
Woodhull...they are buried in the little cemetary across the dirt road from the little
church. ( last name; Willson.) My grandmother was born in the old farmhouse (which no
longer exists, ) on that property. My Dad had to sell the place early on, but we continued
to visit the area for years afterwards....it's so nice up there. I have not been there for
about 10 years but, I plan to visit this summer. I'm sure it will be just the same as it
was 35 years ago....I'll be looking for a bit of land for sale, so I can have a place to
go and get back some of the good memories. Thanks for listening!

I have been searching for photos of Keuka Lake. I know they are are the WEB. I had them
downloaded, but my computer crashed wiping out my hard drive. I am in he process of
rebuilding it now. The reason I want the photos of Keuka Lake is I use them as wallpaper.
My aunt used to live in Prattsburg, and had lake front property. I used to enjoy the lake
often. She moved to Arizona and it has been twenty plus years since I was there. I enjoy
looking at Keuka lake as I have fond memories of being there. Do you have anyidea where I
might find them? I have searched using Snap, Excite, etc. They can't find a thing
concernign photos of Keuka Lake. Any help is appreciated. Ralph G. Fetsko

Hello, I lived in the Buena Vista/Canesteo area in the late forties and very early
fifties. Does anyone know what the land value is there these days? Would anyone like to
buy some land in Western Kentucky for about $$15-20,000 an acre? I thought not. Well, at
least the weather is warmer and there isn't enough snow to brag about. The threat of 1
inch of white stuff sends everyone into a panic, to the stores and checking out their
survival gear. If you mention "snow fence" aroung here, they think your making

I enjoyed your web site, but was hoping to find more information. I am looking for a
listing of counties roads, mostly I would like to find out what roads are abandoned in the
town ship of Canisteo. If you could help me out I'd be grateful. Thank Wendy

I think the pictures are fantastic! I spent most of my high school years living in
Bath. When I married, we moved to Prattsburg NY on Mechanic St. Shelly worked in the
creamery there. Then we moved outside of town, on Bean Station Rd. on the old Daisy
Ferguson, Shotchmer Farm. We haave five children and 13 grand children. One gr.
grandchild. We moved to Texas in 1979 and come up in the summer to spend time with our
families on Waneta Lake. We love the country but Oh those winters! Feel free to e-mail me
if you remember us. We'd love to hear from you. Sheldon & Bernie Snell

Did a search on Wayland N.Y. as I'm trying to get some info on the W.HW Godlocke Chair
Co. of Wayland NY. I was given an old chair from my great aunt and this is the name of the
company stamped on the chair's bottom. The chair was probably made some time between 1890
and 1920. Could anyone give me info about this company. I'm hoping to get more info on the
chair itself. Thanks, Claudette

been travelling ever since. I got home a couple of years ago, I have been wondering about
some of my classmates, where they are, what they been doing? If anyone is there e-mail me,
I'd like to hear from you. I presently live in the MT. Hood National Forest in Oregon
working for the USFS as a Communications Specialist. Well hope to hear from somebody back
there. |
